No one probably reads this page anymore, but it helps when i get that urge to just type out one big chunk of words.
Hainan was really good.
It was fun, but more than that i learned alot.
I've learned how to wash clothes the way they do in ancient china, i've learned to bargain better, ive learned to gamble(quite intelligently actually)
Im able to see things in a wider perspective, im not so narrow-minded anymore, i feel like i've actually become a better person. Hah. I hope its not just a feeling. Maybe i can appreciate and be more sensitive to what people are doing for me. At the village the villagers really gave us their best.
I mean for every meal we had chicken.
as much as i was quite sick of it, i think the villagers suffered quite a heavy loss hosting us.
For the 2nd day when we had chicken curry for lunch, there were like say, 90 drumsticks in those huge pots.
If you do the math, thats like 45 chickens they had to kill just for one meal. The guy at the back squeezing their necks must have gotten really emo.
As much as the place is chicken-infested,(They are really EVERYWHERE), its quite a hefty loss for a group of bastards like us who leave ice-cream sticks everywhere in a village that doesnt belong to us.
Also, the harvesting and irrigation work was really mean, i swear i got depressed after digging into the mud for about 5mins. I was really happy to get out of that place.
Harvesting was actually quite enjoyable work, hacking through the crops with a scythe was addictive, though i got quite cuts on my arm which proved themselves a real nuisance in the following days. That was fun, but i did it for only 20mins, where in the case of the villagers they would have to be bending down in the muddy ground for hours on end, meticulously picking up every grain that would drop.
Farmwork seemed fun, but I think it wouldnt be that enjoyable if I counted on it as my livelihood.
I've understood more about the people around me, and everyone's actually just the same.
Just gotta get to know them i guess.
Perfomances overall were okay i guess, mainly because they were declining in standard from day 4-7.
First performance by WenChang High school was however,
breath-taking.
Everyone's got the wrong perception of China girls. I half-suspected they were GM products.
The singer was interupted by technical problems on stage, but i didnt really care for her singing yknow. Ahh those eyes...
Bloody hell, the kind of foreign talent they import, you know the guys at MOE have never gone to HAINAN.
And the dances, all i could say was that it was like tailor-made for the likes of us. A polite description would be sensual.
I remember i kept saying "I had so much fun!" "I had some much fun!" on the bus ride back.
I cant even remember the last time i got that feeling. Naughty me.
For shopping, the only thing i will probably remember is , $5shirts! BUY BUY BUY!
Im actually quite keen on going there again after EOYs, and this time i really hope to do something proper there. Maybe we'll find more people, get tan yoke han and install more facillities in the village. Install more lights, more fans, more ventilation, and maybe even get a computer there.
So for now i better work like a dog and scrape through this eoy cause if i dont, then it will all come to naught.
wait, why have i even spent 15mins typing out this junk.
Maths, Chem, Physics Humans here i come!
i'll ignore chinese.
